Review:We had a great week back after our long break. We started our study on clothing and with that came new activities in our classroom. It has been fun to hear the students talk about how they help their moms and dads at home with laundry. My goal with the study is to not only teach the students about clothing, but also add an excitement for helping their parents at home with this chore. They are practicing sorting clothes and folding clothes often at school and could certainly help you out at home too :). Looking Ahead:We will continue on with our study on clothes. This week we will focus more on the features of clothing: buttons, velcro, snaps, shapes, pockets, zippers, etc. Bible Verse:Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! Psalm 118:1

Looking Back at DecemberI have finally uploaded the pictures from the Christmas party! I have a link below for each class. I have also put pictures from our Polar Express day on here. We had so much fun with the kids and their visitors before we started our break. We hope you have had a relaxing and healthy break, I know I've enjoyed some extra time with my kiddos and family. Just a reminder that we will start up again on Tuesday, January 3. Please be sure to send snow clothes along as we will hopefully go out next week if the weather cooperates. Looking Ahead:We will begin our study on clothing. Each week we will have a new investigation question. We will begin by exploring the topic of clothing with the questions: What do we know about clothes? and What do we want to find out? We will also continue with our Bible verses. We will work on the letter N No one can serve two masters. Matthew 6:24

I will do my best to post pictures of our fun day on the polar express later next week. Christmas PartyTuesday will be our Christmas party. You child can have 2 visitors come for the last hour and a half of the day (10:00-11:30 & 1:45 - 3:15). Their visitors will get to play some different Christmas games with their preschooler and decorate an icecream cone Christmas tree. Please send one type of candy or food item to share with the class for decorating the Christmas trees, we will have all the cones and frosting here already.
We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We will see you again on January 3! Have a safe, healthy and warm Chirstmas break! Review:We had a great week decorating the hallway! We worked together as a class to make beautiful Christmas tree. We also had a great time finding what mischief Charlie got himself into this last week. Ms. Elise had to be out of the classroom a bit this last week because her little one had to get tubes put in. But the kiddos had a great time with Ms. Brenda and Ms. Kari. We got to celebrate quite a few birthdays this last week too. Looking Ahead:We will continue to talk about winter and Christmas. We will also be practicing for our Christmas program which will be on Tuesday night at 6 & 7. If you have any questions, please let me know. Snow clothes: Please send your child's snow clothes each day unless the temperatures are below 20 degrees. If they do not have the proper clothing to be safe and warm outside they will need to stay in the office with Mindy. Bible Verse: My little children, let us not love in word but in deed. 1 John 3:18

Kindermusic - PM Tuesday: Christmas Program 6:00 PM - AM Class 7:00 PM - PM Class Wednesday: Kindermusic - AM Review:I appologize for not getting a blog post up for what we did, the long weekend really did me in while we were down in Arkansas. We began our study on Christmas and Winter this past week. Our elf, Charlie, came to our classroom on Thursday! During small groups we had fun experimenting with Hot Chocolate. Be sure to ask your child what kind of water is best for making hot chocolate (cold, warm or hot) and why. We also worked on counting the ornaments for our popcicle trees. We had another week of Kindermusik this week. A great quote from one of the students after coming back to the classroom, "Ms. Elise, you really missed out." We have been practicing for our Chirstmas program a lot. The program will be on Dec. 13 at 6 & 7pm in the BJ Haan Auditorium at Dordt College. Looking Ahead:This week we will continue to learn more about the Christmas story during our devotion time. We will get to do some fun math & science work this week. We also have a bunch of birthday celebrations! Be sure to ask your child what trouble Charlie got into each day :) Bible Verse: Let your light so shine before me. Matt. 5:16

Mallory's Half Birthday Celebration Shiloh's Birthday Celebration Thursday: Eli's Birthday Celebration Emaya's Birthday Celebration Nevaeh's Birthday Celebration Review:This past week we read some very silly turkey books. A great question to ask your preschooler is: Where would you hide if you were a turkey around thanksgiving? Thank you to all the parents who came out for parent teacher conferences this past week. It was great to spend time talking to each of you about how great your preschoolers are. Looking Ahead:This is going to be a short week! We will have a regular day of school tomorrow. Please be sure to send your child's snow clothes along! We have found that having a separate bag for their snow clothes works best. We will have our visitor day on Tuesday. The preschoolers are welcome to invite 2 visitors to come for the last hour of the day. We will have a thanksgiving feast and get a chance for the preschoolers to share where they love to play in the classroom. No School Wednesday or Thursday! Happy Thanksgiving!

Visitor Day! Wednesday & Thursday: No School! Happy Thanksgiving! Review:This past week was a crazy one! Ms. Brenda was out on Monday to be with her parents in Sioux Falls, and I was out on Tuesday with the stomach bug. The kiddos were great this week with all the changes and different teachers. I am continued to be impressed by your kids and their patience. We talked a lot about what we are thankful for this past week. I will be posting a picture of our thankfulness turkey next week. Your child may have mentioned that we took out our Christmas tree this week, well they aren't completely wrong :) We have a thankfulness tree in our classroom (that looks a lot like a Christmas tree). We cut out different colored leaves and drew what we were thankful for on them to hang on our tree. We will have this tree up for visitor day to share what we drew. Looking Ahead:We will continue to prepare for thanksgiving this week. We will be reading a couple goofy books about the thanksgiving turkeys and how they avoid being part of the feast. Please remember to check when you had signed up for parent teacher conferences. The conferences will last about 10-15 minutes. I am going to try and stay on schedule as much as possible as all the slots are filled on Tuesday, and many are filled on Thursday. I will have chairs in the hallway outside our classroom available for you to sit in while you wait. Bible Verse: Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life..." John 14:6
