Review:Wow, this last week was a little crazy with the snow storm! Even though the schedule and routines were a bit off the students had a great week. We had fun with career day. A great conversation I had with a student on career day really made me think. Student: Ms. Elise, i just don't think I really want to be a doctor anymore. Ms Elise: Oh, well that's ok, you have a lot of time to decide what you would like to do when you grow up. Student: but I just want to be myself. Ms. Elise: Oh hunny, you will still be yourself even if you have a job. Just like I'm Elise and I'm Ms. Elise, and I'm also mommy. Those all make up who I am. Student: oh, huh. Well, I just don't think I really want to grow up. Ms. Elise: I totally understand :) but how are you going to stop from growing up? Student: Well, I think I'll just make shrinking machine and just keep shrinking myself...except that isn't really real, so that wouldn't work. Hmmm...I just don't want to be an adult, I'm going to be a kid forever. My take away from this conversation is to remember to let these kiddos be kids! We, parents and teachers alike, push to have our kids grow up so quickly, but we forget the importance of a child's innocence and faith and the time it takes to develop that. Looking Ahead:We will begin our Author study on Mo Willems. We will explore some of his books and characters for the next two weeks. We will also get to have kindermusik again this week! Bible Verse:Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Exodus 20:8

You can't take a class picture without taking a goofy picture :) Looking Ahead:We wish wrap up our study on clothing this week by focusing on what clothes different people wear for their jobs. With this we will have a career day on Tuesday. We will have an extra special Thursday this week. We will have our teeth presentation on Thursday, as well as a special visitor. A student in Ms. Becca's class will be moving away at the end of the month, but before he moves, his dad wanted to come and do a magic show for the preschool! Looking into February, we will be having Parent Teacher Conferences on Feb. 21 & 23. We will also be having our state visit during this week since it had to be postponed due to the ice storm this last week. Again, this state visit will not affect your child's day, just make the teachers a little more stressed ;), but really that week will go on as normal. Also, please do not forget we do not have school Feb. 16 & 20. Bible verse:Quench not the Spirit. 1 Thess. 5:19

Career Day Thursday: Happy Birthday, Bennett! Happy Half Birthday, Jacob J.! Review:This study on clothing has been a lot of fun. I have enjoyed hearing the students use the different vocabulary and connect it to what they're wearing and playing with in the classroom. Your child may has mentioned the classroom has changed a lot this week...well its true :) I've been re-arranging the classroom to help us meet the different requirement for our visit next week. We had quite a few students out this week with fevers and stomach bugs. Please make sure your child is symptom/fever free for 24 hours (without medication) before sending them back to school. I completely understand it is difficult to miss work or find alternative child care, but it is just that time of year when these yucky germs are traveling around like wild fire. We are doing everything we can to help eliminate the germs at school, but would really appreciate your help at home too. Looking Ahead:We will be having a hat day on Monday. The students are invited to wear their favorite hat on Monday. This week we will focus mainly on how to take care of our clothing. We will be doing some different experiments with different laundry detergents. We will be having someone from ISU coming in on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday and Thursday mornings to do some observations in our classrooms. This will not interfere with the school day, but we wanted you to be aware of the additional person in our classroom if your child mentions anything. Bible Verse:Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God. Psalm 147:1

Hat Day Thursday: Happy Birthday. Micah! Review:We had a great week back after our long break. We started our study on clothing and with that came new activities in our classroom. It has been fun to hear the students talk about how they help their moms and dads at home with laundry. My goal with the study is to not only teach the students about clothing, but also add an excitement for helping their parents at home with this chore. They are practicing sorting clothes and folding clothes often at school and could certainly help you out at home too :). Looking Ahead:We will continue on with our study on clothes. This week we will focus more on the features of clothing: buttons, velcro, snaps, shapes, pockets, zippers, etc. Bible Verse:Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! Psalm 118:1
